The Department runs social security residential Homes at the following three different locations:-

• Home For Aged and Infirm Persons, Tilak Vihar, Delhi Phone : 28332323
• Home for Senior Citizens, Kalkaji,New Delhi ,Phone :26218940
• Old Age Home , Sector-8, Dwarka, New Delhi

Any Senior Citizen who is not suffering from any communicable disease having no shelter or income may apply for admission in Old Age Home.

Admission in Old Age Home is given on applying on the prescribed form either in the office of the Old Age Home itself or in the office of the respective District Social Welfare Officer or in the office of Dy Director (Social Security) at Head Quarter. Yes, under the Bombay Beggary Prevention Act 1959 extended to the NCT of Delhi, begging is an offence. The offenders are apprehended by conducting raids in different parts of the city and produced before the Megistrate for seeking quantum of sentence.

The applicant (Male or Female) should be in the age group of 18-60 years. The applicant should be suffering from severe or multiple disabilities. 

For the purpose of defining severe or multiple disabilities the following may be considered:

 As per PWD Act 1945, disability, means (i) Blindness, (ii) Low Vision (iii) Leprosy Cured (iv) Heavy Impairment (v) Mental retardation and (vi) Mental Illness.

1. Person with disability means persons suffering from not less than 40% of any disability as Certified by medical authorities.
2.  Persons with severe disability means means persons with 80% or more of one or more disabilities.
3.  Multiple disabilities means combination of two or more disabilities.

Social Welfare Department, Govt of NCT of Delhi is the Nodal Department for implementing the   schemes    related to welfare of social Security, disability, Social Defense

Persons above 60 years of age (55 years in case of the physically challenged ), bonafide residents of the NCT of Delhi for at least 5 years prior to the date of applying, have a valid ID card and a ration card, should not be receiving any such assistance from the another source and recommendation by area MP/MLA/Any Gazetted Officer of the Govt of Delhi, Govt of India
