1. RESIDENTIAL  INSTITUTIONS:

Under  the Plan Scheme- Welfare Programme for old aged persons , the Deptt. of Social  Welfare is running two old age homes:

  1. Home for Aged and  infirm persons, Bindapur, Delhi - Phone no. 25639463

ADMISSION: 
Admission  in Old Age Home is given on applying in the prescribed form either in the  office of Old Age Home itself or in the office of the respective District  Social Welfare Officer or in the office of Dy. Director (Social Security) at  Headquarter. On the recommendation of the Admission Committee after completion  of all the formalities as per rules residential facility is provided.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Admission in the institution is open to any  senior citizen (resident of Delhi)  in the age group of 60 years and above who is not suffering from any  communicable disease having no shelter or income, may apply for admission in  Old Age Home.

FACILITIES:

  • Free  boarding/lodging at the state run Old Age Homes for free seats.
  • Medical  care & Counseling.
  • Recreational  facilities and Rehabilitation programme.


2 RECREATION CENTRE FOR SR. CITIZENS.

Under the Plan Scheme –  Residential Recreation Centre for Senior Citizen, financial grant is provided for setting up of Recreation Centre all over Delhi.

AIMS  AND OBJECTIVE: 
The aim of setting the Recreation center is  to provide facilities for relaxation, avenues of social and cultural activities  for their leisure which will help the senior citizens to integrate them with  their families.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Senior Citizen organizations/RWAs and those  NGOs who are exclusively working on the issues related to the Welfare of the  Senior Citizens.
  • The Organization should have at least three  year old Registration under Societies Registration Act which can be relaxed in  case of Organization of Senior Citizens themselves / the societies Registered  with Registrar of Cooperative Societies are also eligible.
  • It should have at least 50 registered members  with it.
  • Under the Scheme Non-Recurring Grant to the  tune of Rs. 75,000/- (one time grant) and Recurring Grant of Rs.20,000/- P.M is  provided to Organizations running  Recreation Centers. The Organizations  which do not have any space are given a monthly grant of Rs. 10,000/- for  carrying out Sr. Citizens Recreational activities.


1. MAINTENANCE TRIBUNALS

The Government of Delhi has notified and set  up Maintenance Tribunal and Appellate Tribunal in all eleven Districts of Delhi  to exercise the powers and discharge the functions conferred under the  Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. Under this Act any senior Citizen or parent who is unable to maintain himself or who’s children  are not maintaining him/her from his own earning or out of property owned by  him, shall be entitled to make an application against their children for  Maintenance.

(A) Under the act ,Delhi  Rules under Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Sr. Citizens Act were  originally framed in 2009 and further Amended in 2010.

  • (B) MAINTENANCE  TRIBUNAL in each district headed by A.D.M.S as the Presiding Officer/  Chairperson along with two Non-Official  Members one of whom is female.
  • (C)APPELLATE  TRIBUNAL in each district headed by DY.  COMMISSIONERS (REVENUE) as the Chairpersons along with two Non-Official Members, one of whom is a female.
  • (D)THE DEPUTY  COMMISSIONERS UNDER RULE 21 have been empowered to ensure Life and Property of  Senior Citizens.
  • (E) ACTION PLAN FOR THE PROTECTION OF  LIFE AND PROPERTY of Senior Citizens drawn up under Rule 22, Wherein the Police Officer is  required to take action in case  of complaint.


APPLICATION FOR  MAINTENANCE UNDER SECTION 5(1) CAN BE MADE BY:

  • A  senior citizen or a parent, as the case may be; or
  • If he/she is incapable, by any other person  or organsiation authorized by him, or
  • The tribunal may take cognizance suo-moto
