1. Senior Citizen Homes 

The Department is running 5 Senior Citizen Homes in different districts of Delhi, the details are as under –

Facilities provided are as under:

• Lodging/boarding, clothing and bedding facilities, 

• Case work and counselling services, 

• Medical care of the inmates, 

• T.V. and religious discourses/Bhajan kirtan programmes,

• Group activities. 

Admission in Old Age Homes of the Department of Social Welfare is given to destitute old and infirm:

• Who are in the age group of 60 years and above

• Who have none to support or maintain them

• Who are not suffering from any communicable disease

• Who are residents of Union Territory of Delhi.

2. Maintenance Tribunals and Appellate Tribunals constituted under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

The Government of NCT of Delhi has constituted Maintenance Tribunals and Appellate Tribunals in all Revenue Districts to exercise the powers and discharge the functions conferred under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

Under the Act, a senior citizen or parent who is unable to maintain himself/herself from his/her own earnings or property and whose children or relatives have neglected or refused to provide maintenance is entitled to file an application seeking maintenance before the concerned Maintenance Tribunal.

Applicants may approach the office of the concerned District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner of their respective Revenue District for filing an application. The procedure for filing and registration of an application is governed by Section 5(1) of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.

• Maintenance Tribunals - 

The Maintenance Tribunal in each district is headed by ADM as the Presiding Officer/ Chairperson along with two non-official members one of whom is female

• Appellate Tribunals –

The Appellate Tribunal in each district is headed by Dy. Commissioners (Revenue) as Chairperson along with two non-official members, one of whom is female.

• The Deputy Commissioners under Rule 21 have been empowered to ensure Life and Property of Senior Citizen.

• Action plan for the Protection of Life and Property of Senior Citizens drawn up under Rule 22, wherein the police officer is required to take action in case of complaint. 

3. Details of the offices of the District Magistrates (DMs) and Additional District Magistrates (ADMs) of all Revenue Districts in Delhi.

D. The Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 and the relevant Rules may continue to remain available on the website.
